About Historic Sala
Sala Avenue is the City’s Historic and Cultural District. It is currently being redeveloped for the enjoyment of locals and visitors.
Of particular interest at present is the Westwego Historical Museum. It is located in the century-old Fisherman’s Exchange Building (Durac Terrebonne/L. J. Bernard Hardware Store) and features an old time hardware store (early 1900s), completely furnished upstairs living quarters with antique furniture. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Wednesday-Sunday Museum is located at 275 Sala Ave., Wetwego, LA 70094.
You can also visit the Josh Wingerter Gallery in the Westwego Arts Center at 401 Sala Avenue. Check the Jefferson Performing Arts website for events at the Westwego Cultural Center or Performing Ats Center. The Farmers market at 484 Sala Avenue also hosts many exciting weekend events which are posted on our home page.
