Barber Shop

Barber Shop

The building at 480 Sala Avenue was built in the early 1920s by Mayor Victorin A. Pitre. It was used as a barber shop from the early 1920s. The shop had one chair, and a haircut cost 10 cents with ''tantalizing'' conversation about current ·events and such.

Sylvain Joseph Marcombe began cutting hair in the late 1920s at the shop and barbered there until he retired in the 1960s. The shop has been silent since then.
