Betz Funeral Home
William Betz & Sons Funeral Home, located at 333 Sala Avenue, was the first funeral home in Westwego, established in 1934.
During this period of history, it was a custom for the local funeral homes to provide ambulance service to the community. Betz provided this additional service for the people of Westwego.
The Betz building was demolished in 1991.

In 2002, a replica of the exterior of the original Whitehouse Plantation was built on this site. The plantation was located on River Road, in the vicinity of what is the beginning of Avenue B and Avenue C.
The plantation house, built in the latter part of the 19th century, was owned by the Harang and Bouligny families. In the early 1930’s, the Ordoqui family operated a dairy on the site and lived in the home.
