The Westwego Volunteer Fire Company #1 proudly serves and protects the residents and visitors of the city of Westwego with a Class 2 Fire Department Rating. This rating allows residents a reduction in insurance rates. The fire Department operates 2 stations with a combination of paid and volunteer firefighters. This group or men, women and junior firefighters make us who we are, and "Together We Are One" who takes immense pride in providing prompt professional service in all-hazard emergency situations and is heavily relied upon by the community. 

The Fire Department has served the City of Westwego for over 100 years, (est. in 1922). If you are interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter, junior firefighter, or a member of this amazing fire department, you may obtain an application from the Administration Office. Requirements include that you must be 18 years of age and have no criminal record. Junior Firefighters must be at least 10 years old and meet certain requirements.

Chief Ken Bouvier

Ken Bouvier, serves as Fire Chief. He is an Executive Chief Officer, Paramedic, Certified Firefighter, and Hazardous Materials Technician who leads the department into action with 50 years of Fire & Emergency Medical Service experience, serving since 1975.
