JEFFERSON PARISH MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN

JEFFERSON, LA – An updated draft of the 2025 Jefferson Parish Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan is available for public comment through Thursday, February 13, 2025. A Hazard Mitigation Plan is a comprehensive document created to develop and implement practical and manageable mitigation strategies that help to reduce a community’s risk to natural hazards. An approved plan allows the Parish and participating municipalities to apply for federal funds for projects prioritized in the plan.

Jefferson Parish has completed the first draft of its collaborative Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update, with the help of officials from the cities of Gretna, Harahan, Kenner, Westwego and the towns of Grand Isle and Jean Lafitte, with an update occurring every five years.
